How He loves us

John Mark McMillan

Oh how He loves us so
Oh How He loves us
How He loves us so

Yeah He loves us
Oh how He loves us

These are lyrics from John Mark McMillan's song "How He Loves Us".

How many times does it take for us to hear "Jesus loves me" before we can ever really grasp it? I wonder if because we are human (or maybe stupid), that is why it takes so long for us to really believe that someone actually loves us. I know for me I have had people tell me "I love you", but it takes a lot of time to really believe that. Love is not just someone saying "I love you", but the actions that they display to back up their words.

When. if ever, will we really comprehend that the Creator of the universe actually loves us? I want to live my life knowing and never forgetting the fact that God loves me.

happiness

beggers

Definition of happiness: emotions experienced when in a state of well-being

Look at that little face... How is it that children (and adults) in third world countries are so happy with the way their life is? I was recently in India for 2 months and really noticed how happy the people there are. The children would be happy if they had a little top with a string on it, it would keep them entertained for hours. In the Western world most kids would be bored after 1.3 minutes and looking for a computer or video game to play.

In America we have such a different way of life and seem to have so much more (materially) then them and yet we never seem to be really happy. On top of it all, we (at least I am) are Christians and have God living inside of us, that should make us be happier than anyone!

I wonder... If we did not know of different things out there, that we could have, would we be more greatful and happy for the things we do have?

Where do you find your happiness?

marvelous light and self-motivation

into marvelous light i am running
out of darkness
out of shame
by the cross you are the truth
you are the light
you are the way

that was the cry of my heart this morning, that God would help me run into marvelous light! lately i feel like i have been pretty dry spiritually. this morning i was singing, or trying to sing, this song and really felt like God was just filling me up.

so many times in life i get caught up in the day to day stuff and things around us that we lose our focus on Christ. i want to incorporate God into everything i do and make him the center. even though i may be going through a hard time i have to keep praising Him and not forget He is always there with me. how do we stay in touch constantly with God and our soul?

in Good to Great by Jim Collins he talks about great companies not having to motivate their employees because they are self-motivated. my question is how do you become self-motivated or hire people that are self-motivated? i guess it is all about getting people who believe in what they are doing and have a passion for it, but i guarantee you not everyone working at walgreen's (a "great" company) loves what they are doing or do they?

first entry

this first entry is to welcome myself to the blogosphere. i have been thinking about starting a blog for a while and finally i have accomplished the feat.

i know there are a million blogs out there, but my reason for starting this is so that i can help myself process thoughts on a deeper level and have input from you (the reader). hopefully in turn it will help you ponder on thoughts and ideas central to living a missional life.
